Given the risk of COVID-19 transmission on the Northern Beaches and across Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains), the following adjustments are being made.
Restrictions for the northern zone of the Northern Beaches remain the same with stay at home orders in place until 9 January 2021;
Given the general risk in Greater Sydney, new measures are required to reduce the transmission potential of COVID-19 while maintaining economic activity.
The following measures for Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains) are effective from midnight tonight:
People are still encouraged to limit non-essential gatherings and reduce their mobility where possible to further minimise the risk of transmission in the community.
Whilst these measures do not apply to areas outside Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains), we urge all residents and visitors across the State to practise COVID safe behaviours and get tested even if symptoms are mild.
We thank the community for their patience and understanding.
Our priority is always to protect the health and safety of the community.
The rules now state that tennis is allowed – see link
… Outdoor recreation activities:
If you are living or staying in the Northern Beaches, you may leave your home for outdoor recreation activities.
Outdoor recreation includes activity that supports mental, physical or emotional wellbeing. This includes picnics, golf, tennis, water-based activities (swimming, boating, jet-skiing, fishing, paddle boarding), and taking children to outdoor public playgrounds.
In the northern zone, no more than 5 northern zone residents can participate.
In the southern zone, no more than 10 southern zone residents can participate.
I have been in touch with Service NSW and they confirmed that tennis is allowed. There can be as many as 10 on a court according to them. I think we should limit it to four on a court to be safe.
On this basis I think it is ok to reopen the courts but not the Clubhouse. The new toilet can be open.
As in COVID practices used earlier in the year, all players must book a court with Scott (including club times) . Players must play then leave the area when finished.
As a result there will be no organised Club social play and no provision of balls for play. Doubles is ok, but again no organised Club social play- people will have to organise their own matches. The usual club booking rules will apply.

Modest adjustments to restrictions allowed the community to enjoy Christmas in challenging circumstances, but it is important to remember that COVID-19 may still be circulating in the community.
Taking into account updated health advice on the risk to the community from Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, the following conditions will be in place from midnight tonight until 11:59pm December 30.
For the Northern Beaches peninsula zone (North of Narrabeen Bridge, and east of the Baha’i Temple):
For the remainder (southern zone) of the Northern Beaches:
Residents of the Northern Beaches are able to leave for four permitted reasons:
A Northern Beaches resident now located elsewhere in NSW is exempt from these restrictions provided it has been at least 14 days since they have been in this local government area. If it is less than 14 days, they need to follow the relevant restrictions for their area of residence, regardless of their current location, until the 14 days has elapsed. For these people, outdoor gatherings continue to be restricted to two people.

Published: 23 December 2020
Given the current health situation on the Northern Beaches and taking into account updated health advice from Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, the Northern Beaches have been separated into two zones, and restrictions have been modestly modified for the Christmas period.
On December 24, 25 and 26, the following conditions will be in place:
For the Northern Beaches peninsula zone (North of Narrabeen Bridge, and east of the Baha’i Temple):
For the remainder (southern zone) of the Northern Beaches:
For the Greater Sydney region, Central Coast, Wollongong and Nepean Blue Mountains:
Restrictions for Regional NSW remain unchanged.
In addition, as of 1 January 2021, hospitality venues and hairdressers will be required to use the NSW Government QR code system.
Decisions on New Year’s Eve and upcoming sporting events will be made after this Christmas period.
We also want to again thank all those who are in self-isolation over the Christmas period. What you are doing is not just protecting you and your loved ones but everyone in the state of New South Wales.
It is important to remember that COVID-19 is still circulating in the community, especially when you gather with family and friends over the Christmas period.
We are urging the community to continue to play their role in controlling the spread, by getting tested if symptoms develop, practising physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and by wearing a mask, particularly indoors.
From 5pm today 19 Dec, public health orders will enforce the stay at home advisory previously issued. This will require the closing of hospitality venues and function centres in the Northern Beaches Local Government Area, until 11.59pm on Wednesday (subject to health advice), with the exception of takeaways. Gyms and places of worship will also close.
All residents of the Northern Beaches Local Government Area will be required to stay at home, unless permitted to leave for certain reasons, such as essential shopping, exercise and medical care. The full list of circumstances will be listed in the published order.
People are not permitted to enter the Northern Beaches Local Government Area unless these reasons apply.
Read the statement by The Premier and Minister for Health and Medical Research.
NSW Health can advise that 17 cases of COVID-19 have now been identified in the Northern Beaches area, including cases diagnosed yesterday and today.
As a number of new cases are currently being interviewed, it is likely that a number of new venues will be identified and that people in the northern beaches may have attended these venues.
Therefore, to assist contact tracing and to contain any potential spread of COVID-19, we ask that for the next three days, people residing in the Northern Beaches Local Government Area take the following steps:
At this time, we request that people from outside the area should avoid unnecessary travel to the Northern Beaches.
There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/how-to-protect-yourself-and-others/clinics or contact your GP.
NSW Health has been notified of further venues of concern following the two new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon in the northern area of the Northern Beaches.
Everyone living in the Northern Beaches area should monitor for even the mildest of symptoms and come forward for testing immediately if they appear, then isolate until a negative result is received.
