Non-Club Member Play
Non-club member play means play outside of the club hours published above.
The Manly Tennis facility is a dual use facility with the courts shared between MLTC and MTC. MTC controls the hiring of ALL courts for public play, private coaching, competitions and functions OUTSIDE of the designated Club Play times.
Unreserved basis:
Club members may use the courts during non-club member time on an unreserved basis without cost if the court is not being used by the Manly Tennis center (MTC). However, members are required to vacate the court as soon as the MTC requires the court.
To be courteous and to avoid any confusion members need to advise MTC prior to using the court.
Reservation of a court:
If a Club member wishes to book a court for a certain time outside of member allocated playing time, they must book through the MTC and pay the regular hiring fee less membership discount which is a 25% discount on the normal fee.
I am visiting, can I play social tennis?
The Manly Lawn Tennis Club plays mixed social tennis every Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Visitors MUST be of a reasonable tennis standard to play social tennis with members and
are required to wear correct tennis attire and shoes. The Manly Tennis Centre offers lessons for tennis beginners.
Visitors may play up to six times per year for a $20 fee on Saturdays , $15 on Sunday and $10 midweek.
Visitors should introduce themselves to a Club Committee Member prior to coming down to play.
VISITORS MUST SIGN THE CLUB’S VISITOR REGISTER BEFORE PLAY.
Can anyone become a member?
The Club is currently close to the limit on the number of members it can accommodate. As a result the Club is tightening its requirements for FULL membership. FULL memberships will only be considered from players of sufficient playing standard.
Applications for Junior and Mid Week memberships are available on a case by case basis and also include a playing trial. Even so, these prospective members MUST be capable of playing at least the lowest standard of competition at our Club.
We will be pleased to arrange a trial for anyone who is NOT sure of their playing standard. Trials are scheduled on Thursday or Saturday afternoons.
Please note that to join the club the applicant must have a current Club member nominate them and another club member to second them. The application then goes to the Club committee for approval. The applicants name is then placed on the notice board for a further two weeks as a requirement of the Liquor Licensing Board.
Prospective new members are most welcome to visit and play at the Club on a Saturday or Thursday afternoon. Please introduce yourself to one of the Clubs committee members or our Head Pro, Scott Blackburn before playing.
