TA: UPDATE: MATCH CENTRE RATING DISPLAY

As the 2021/22 summer season of Tennis comes to a close, the rollout of the new Competitive Play Framework and transition to the UTR Rating for Australian tennis continues.

The following outlines key dates essential to ensuring a smooth transition to the 2022/23 summer season.

As of 31 March 2022, Match Centre users will notice a change to the ratings display. The change is an important step in moving towards the new Competitive Play Framework and transition to a UTR Rating which comes into full effect on 1 October 2022, prior to the commencement of the 2022/23 summer season.

What is the change to Match Centre?

  • The UTR Rating will replace the current TA Rating on team profiles, scorecards, results and upcoming matches.
  • Your TA Rating will remain visible on your player dashboard until the end of the 2022 winter season.
  • Your TA Rating will only be visible to you.

Who does the change in Match Centre affect?

  • All players, Team Captains, Team Managers and users of Match Centre.

When does the change to Match Centre come into play?

  • All changes to the Match Centre display will come into effect on 31 March 2022.

How is the transition to the updated UTR Rating display being managed?

  • Throughout the 2022 winter season players who log in to Match Centre will be able to view both the TA Rating and UTR Rating on their individual player dashboard.
  • At the commencement of the 2022/23 summer season players who log in to Match Centre will only be able to view their UTR Rating.

Why does the change to the rating display on Match Centre need to occur before the UTR Rating comes into full effect on 1 October?

  • The changes are an important step in ensuring all Match Centre users and players have activated their UTR Rating and are prepared for the commencement of the 2022/23 summer season.

How do I link my Tennis ID to my UTR Rating?

  • See TA site for more information about Competitive Play and UTR Ratings.

See you on the courts!

2022 Sydney Badge Preliminary Grading

A total of 154 teams have been entered into the Badge competition for Season 2022.

Please see attached the preliminary grading for each Division. We entrust that you will pass these gradings on to your relevant team contacts.

Some things to note:

An influx of entries into high divisions within the Saturday Men’s Competition including:
Division 1 = 9 Teams
Division 2 = 13 Teams
Division 3 = 14 Teams

This made the top 3 divisions very competitive and as a result we have created additional divisions to accommodate the demand. Given the strength of the competition the majority of teams will be ranked lower than requested and compared to previous years so please take this into consideration should you wish to make an appeal.

The Saturday Ladies competition had a similar situation with (12) teams requesting Division 2. We have again created another division in 2022 and majority of teams will be in a lower division than what they originally nominated.

As a result of this release, any team that wishes to appeal their preliminary grading must do so through the Badge Delegate via the link provided here in accordance to Rule 9 – Grading Appeal. As per the rules (copied below) appeals must be received within 4 days of the release of preliminary grading. Please provide as much information about your team as possible including ratings and 2021 results.

Link to appeal

Please note the deadline for grading appeals is 5pm on Friday, 18th March 2022. No late appeals will be considered by the panel.

Currently Tennis NSW is having extensive email issues where we are unable to access the Sydney Badge email and are not receiving external emails into the NSW Leagues email. Please make sure that you are making your appeal via the above link to avoid missing out. Once the email issue has been resolved we will advise.

We look forward to another great competition in 2022.
Kind Regards.
TNSW Competitions Team.

> 9. Grading Appeal
> 9.1 Teams wishing to appeal their preliminary grading may do so by clicking here and filling out an appeal form to Tennis NSW within four (4) days of the grading being published and should include:

>
> 9.2 Any Grading Appeals received by Tennis NSW later than four (4) days after the grading being published will not be considered.
>
> 9.3 Appeals cannot be guaranteed and will be decided at the sole and absolute discretion of the grading committee.
>
> 9.4 Should there be any changes to grading’s following an appeal, the affected team/s are permitted 48 hours to lodge a right of reply. Any right of reply received by Tennis NSW after the 48-hour deadline will not be considered.
>
> 9.5 Tennis NSW in conjunction with the grading committee will release the FINAL Grading to all Badge Captains within seven (7) to ten (10) Business days following the preliminary grading release. No Teams will be allowed to appeal the final grading.

MLTC Newsletter 8 Mar 2022

Saturday was rain free and we were able to conclude the Combined Age Championships.

Sunday unfortunately was a washout again so the Combined 100 Mixed will be played sometime in the future.

On Saturday only 3 pairs played the 40 Ladies Doubles with Krista and Sarah winning the round robin.

The Mens 60 doubles also had only 3 pairs with Gordon and Quinton winning.

The Mens 40 doubles had two pools of 4 pairs each.

Geoff Dunstan and Stephane won Pool A and The two Steves (Wilko and Netto) won Pool B

In a tense final Netto and Wilko came from behind to win 6-4.

All winners on the day received a bottle of vintage wine from the Club’s cellar.

Badge Team Entry closed on March 6 and gradings should be released on March 11.

Any Captain unhappy with their grading has 48 hours only to submit an appeal with reasons why their team should be promoted. Send the appeal to me and I will forward to The Badge Appeals Panel.

Denis Crowley.

MLTC Newsletter 28 Feb 2022

Rain washed out The Combined Age Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

The courts were very damp on Sunday Morning and several pairs had already withdrawn from the event so it was decided to play the Combined 100 Mixed next Sunday.

All pairs entered for Saturday and Sunday will be entered for next weekend unless you tell me otherwise.

MENS 40 DOUBLES NOON SATURDAY MARCH 6

MENS 60 DOUBLES 11.30AM SATURDAY MARCH 6

LADIES 40 DOUBLES 11.30AM SATURDAY MARCH 6 WITH A STAGGERED START UNTIL 2 COURTS AVAILABLE

COMBINED 100 MIXED 9.30AM SUNDAY MARCH 7

Badge Teams will be entered this week and we have 6 Mens’ Teams and 3 Ladies Teams.

Thursday Ladies will have 1 Team.

By having less teams this year we will have 2 courts weekly and  4 courts available each fortnight for Social Tennis.

Paul Wigney’s Funeral was attended on Friday by a large number of people with MLTC members prominent.

Many eulogies were given about Paul’s long and interesting life. He was always smiling and willing to help and assist in all aspects of his life. He will be sorely missed.

Ron Jeff’s is recovering in hospital, we all want to wish him a quick recovery and look forward to seeing him on the courts soon.

CPR Course

We’d like to thank the 16 members who came along to the CPR training day with Surf Lifesaving NSW earlier in Feb. It’s fantastic to have more members who know how to perform CPR and how to use the de-fib machine (located on the wall outside the bar). All course attendees should now have received their e-certificate from Sarah. We hope to run another course in a year’s time.
